Well probably SAXON WARRIOR!
He's the best horse in the race (on
ratings).
He's got the best form.
He's come via winning the *best* trial for the Derby (the Guineas).
He's trained by a master who knows exactly what it takes to win the big one (Aidan O'Brien - 6 Derby winners and
counting).
And on a first glance he looks likely to score full marks on my Derby trends and sit top of my shortlist.
But the betting reflects all this as he's odds on in all books, there's precious little value to be squeezed from the Guineas winner (no value to be fair!).
If you're into hammering into odds-on shots I can't, at this stage, put you off the O'Brien fav.
O'Brien has had beaten
favs in the race before though (US Army Ranger - Jan Vermeer - Fame And Glory - Hawk Wing) albeit none of that quartet were as hardened in the betting as The Warrior.
It's in my nature to try and go against these types (if possible) so I'll see where my final figures point on the eve of the race, although I suspect it may be E/W value I'll be looking for as the fav is looking damn hot at the
minute.
I'm not overly fussed by Saxon Warrior hogging the Derby betting though as I've plenty other races over the two day Epsom meeting to try and source profits from.
This is how my schedule for full NTF members is shaping up...
Friday
2.35 - Investec
Mile
3.10 - Coronation Cup
3.45 - 1m2f Handicap
4.30 - Investec Oaks
Saturday
3.10 - Diomed Stakes
3.45 - Investec Dash (really looking forward to this one, one of the races of the season for me!)
4.30 -
Investec Derby
5.15 - 1m4f Handicap
Plenty of juicy races to tuck into there, all receiving the full NTF trends treatment, with the Dash being the jewel in the crown for me on Derby weekend, providing a speedy challenge to get stuck into beforehand and also giving me
plenty to review and source future BDH Squad members from.
I'm in desperate need of new BDH Squad members at the minute as well as two of the three horses that were in the squad WON first time up, meaning they've done the job asked of them and have been released back
into the wild to continue on their merry way.
Those horse were...
CHIEFOFCHIEFS (won at Sandown last Thursday - 5-1)
GILGAMESH (won at York last Saturday - 10-1 >>
5-1)
The other horse in the squad came a close second on his only run since being inserted into the squad and I'd be confident of him adding more profits to the pot in the very near future.
I took my eye off the ball a bit last season with the BDH Squad, I didn't invest as much time in it as I
should have, but I've changed that this year, I've even added some BDH notes to supplement the main squad, my BDH eye is back in the game and firing well!

weekend and beyond!
Epsom is a tricky track to negotiate and the races provide their own testing puzzle for us punters, but they are races I love getting stuck into on the trends front and I'll be leaving no stone un-turned in search of some juicy Epsom profits...
