A juicy apple from Newmarket's Rowley Mile...

When Aidan O'Brien is scoofing up all the big prizes you know the flat season is back in full swing!

A Guineas double already in the bag and Churchill and Rhododendron both currently head the markets for the Derby and the Oaks. Once again Ballydoyle have an embarrassment of riches.

Churchill looked very professional to me in the Guineas and I reckon he's going to be a Sea the Stars type of animal, continually getting the job done at the top level with the minimum amount of fuss.

Rhododendron was probably a shade unlucky in the 1000 Guineas but I did also feel she was maybe just a quarter step behind the pace from the get go and maybe would have ended up a head or neck down come the line even with a clear run. Very hard to say for certain though and there is no doubt the interference she suffered contributed to her defeat, or more accurately stopped her having a clear shot at gunning down her stablemate Winter. Regardless of all that though both those O'Brien fillies look serious players for the season ahead.

Today I'm back on the 'How did that win' trail and looking back at Sunday's Newmarket meeting for a juicy Charlie Appleby angle to add to the war chest...

It's a nice and quick post so as usual it won't take up too much of your day...

2017 BDH Members Service

Chester is next on the radar for BDH members analysis, specifically the Chester Cup (3.35 Wednesday).

The final decs for that came out a couple hours ago so I'll be getting stuck into that this afternoon, with the completed guide being ready for members on Tuesday afternoon/evening.

Make sure you don't miss your slot...

Happy Punting
