Yes, the NTF Trend Horses guide is still growing in numbers as the jumps season begins to take on a bit of shape. The latest updated guide for full NTF members was uploaded last week and the COMPLETED version should be locked and
loaded at some stage this week.
That side of NTF 2016/17 got off to a flyer this weekend with one of the Trend Horses - SELDOM INN - absolutely annihilating his field by an eased down TWENTY ONE LENGTHS at Kelso!
He was backed in from 7/1 to an SP of 7/2 (don't think
that was the NTF massive lumping on but you never know!!) and here is what I wrote about him in the members area on Friday evening...

Best on better ground - YES (Good to Soft)
Enjoys double figure fields - NO (5 runners)
Yet to win at 3m+ - YES (2m7.5f)
Strong form in races worth 4.5k or below - YES (4.5k to winner)
Other notes - 0/3 on RH tracks

Add into the above that he is 12 at the track, 121 off DSLR 121+ and 121213 in the Oct-Dec period.
He actually comes out well at the weights here and fresh may just be the time to catch him as on his first 2 starts
off a break (when second run withing 30 days) he is 11122 (30353485 on all other starts) and although his chasing career didn't exactly ignite last term I'm willing to take a punt on him under these conditions.
I comfortable with the fact he could blow out again and chasing may just not be for him but I feel he's worth the 'risk' under these conditions at the
price.

Does it always work out this rosy?
Hell no! And I would never pretend it
did.
Indeed there were a couple of Trend Horses that didn't win for us over the weekend as well.
We had an agonising 4th of 15 at 16-1 and one that went from cruising to nothing in a matter of strides.
But that's racing and you take the joy of the Seldom Inn's with the agony of the 16-1 near misses and the disappointment of the flat out failures in your stride. It is, as always, a long term game.
Seldom Inn's win was, however, a fantastic example of the NTF Trend Horses at work and I'm confident there will be many more where he came from as we reach deeper into the
season.
Indeed there have been a number on the list who have run but didn't have ideal conditions and duly ran just as I expected. NTF Members and I were aware conditions were not to suit and we are happy to sit and wait for conditions to fall right before getting the money down.
