The 5th and final day of Royal Ascot 2026...
Â
A week that so far has been dominated by the draw... specifically horses drawn high (Quarter 4 of the draw)...
Â
14 races so far on the straight track... 11 of them won by a horse drawn in the top half of the
draw (Q3 & Q4)... 9 of them won by horses drawn in Q4 of the draw...
Â
Not unusual at Royal Ascot to see the high(er) numbers dominate... but perhaps worth noting that the stats suggest the bias has, in recent seasons, leveled out by the time it gets to the
Saturday of the meeting, if not marginally favouring the bottom half of draw... possibly caused by watering through the week to try and eradicate the clear high number/near side bias...
Â
No guarantee that will happen this year of course... the bias does seem even
more pronounced this year... but not out of the question that it might level out a bit today...
Â
We'll soon see...
Â
For today's free Saturday email I'm deviating from my usual Trainer Trends email and posting up the race trends for one of today's Royal Ascot races... THE GOLDEN GATES STAKES HANDICAP at 5:35...
one of the races NOT run on the straight track...
Â
Before I get to those trends... a couple of things you may have missed...
